Museo Renato Raffaelli
Museum | Gemona Del Friuli | Friuli-Venezia Giulia | Italy
The Museo Renato Raffaelli in Gemona del Friuli, Italy, is located in the basement of the newly built Santuario di Sant'Antonio and is dedicated to the Gemona engineer and benefactor Renato Raffaelli. It houses a significant collection of paintings and sculptures, mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries, representing both local and regional artists.
Outstanding works include paintings by Melchior Widmar, a Swiss painter who worked in Gemona in the second half of the 17th century. Another highlight is the "Madonna Bella", a carved and gilded wooden sculpture from the 15th century, attributed to the Salzburg school. These works come from various sources, including the former Antonian Pinacotheca and the former convent of Sant'Anna in Capodistria.
A visit to the museum offers a deep insight into the religious art and history of the region and is a significant cultural attraction in Gemona del Friuli.
